Astrology basics 06
Other important points
The Part of Fortune, the North Node, and the planets that were rising and highest when you were born.
Besides the planets and houses, some other points are also important for birth chart analysis, of which only a few of the most important are considered here: two Arabic parts (the Part of Spirit and the Part of Fortune), the North Node, the culminating planet, the rising planet and the planets in domicile.
The two Arabic parts
Both are calculated from where the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant stand.
The Part of Spirit
your spirit
This is an Arabic part which is calculated from the positions of the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant, using the formula: ASC + SUN − MOON = the Part of Spirit. It represents your spirit, the point in a personal horoscope in which we somehow connect all the most influential elements of a personal horoscope into a common denominator.
The Part of Fortune
where you are luckiest
This is also an Arabic part which is calculated from the positions of the Sun, the Moon and the Ascendant, using the formula: ASC + MOON − SUN = the Part of Fortune. It represents the lucky point in your personal horoscope where you can best use your natural abilities.
The North Node
is where you grow
This is an apparent point in the sky where the Moon’s orbit and the ecliptic intersect. It represents things which you have to work on to exceed your karma — things and experiences which enable your personal growth and through which you can fulfil your natural abilities.
Planets in special places
The rising planet
your natural gifts
This is the planet closest to the axis of the 1st house (ASC). It was therefore the easternmost planet at the moment of your birth, and symbolises your natural abilities.
The culminating planet
what you reach for
This is the planet closest to the axis of the 10th house (MC). It was therefore the highest in the sky at the moment of your birth, and so defines what you strive for in life.
Planets in domicile
at home, and stronger for it
A planet that is in the sign or the house which it rules is in domicile. It is possible that you have no such planet, or more than one. These planets have an even more emphasised influence in your personal horoscope.
Your birth chart reading
Your whole chart, read in one book
The book goes through every planet, every house and every aspect in one birth chart, the way these pages explain them, but about you.
